What is Morgellons Disease?

So, you think you may have this strange condition called Morgellons disease. You’re searching the internet night after night trying to make sense of what is happening to your body. But first, you need to know more about this mysterious illness. So, let’s try and answer some of the most common and basic questions about Morgellons disease.

What is Morgellons disease?

Morgellons disease is a controversial skin condition in which fibers may appear under the skin or emerging from it. Most Morgellons sufferers report a skin crawling or stinging sensation on or just below the skin. It is usually self-diagnosed since there is little belief or knowledge about it within the medical community.

It is at this time poorly understood. However, that is slowly changing. I currently am aware of one major university conducting research on Morgellons disease and a few US doctors that are quite knowledgeable of the condition.

Is this all in my head, am I delusional?

Absolutely not! And just because the science has not caught up with the condition doesn’t mean it’s not real. Don’t let anyone else make you feel like you are going crazy. This is affecting thousands of people all over the world. According to a leading expert, it is estimated to afflict approximately six percent of Lyme disease patients. And while using an alternative method of counting, the CDC estimates Lyme disease cases may be as high as 476,000 cases per year in America. That adds up to a lot of Morgellons disease patients each year just in the US alone.

Additionally, the way with which sufferers report their symptoms are completely consistent, making it even more believable. You can’t imagine your way into creating sores and fibers on your body. Not to mention, antipsychotic medications have been proven to be mostly ineffective.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, sometimes referred to as ME/CFS, has been believed to be around for a couple of hundred years. However, it only gained real credibility after the CDC published a paper about it in 1987. And don’t even get me started on Lyme disease! It is now believed to have been around for thousands of years. I could go on all day! The bottom line is just because the overall medical community has not caught up with our suffering does not mean this is any less real. Give it time! But most importantly, don’t give up!

What causes Morgellons disease?

Bacteria!! Bad bacteria, to be exact. People with Morgellons disease have an imbalance of bad bacteria or yeast in their gut. This bacterial imbalance is what sets the stage for Morgellons disease. It is what makes people like you and I susceptible to getting Morgellons disease. And the bacteria in your gut does not just affect your digestive health, your skin has a powerful connection to it as well. This connection is called the gut-skin axis. It is because of the gut-skin axis that we feel it on our skin. It’s also why many of us feel it in our clothes and on electronic devices like our phones. We can spread this bacteria on any surface that has contact with our skin.

What causes this bacterial imbalance?

Everyone is different, for some it could be too many courses of antibiotics that killed off much of their beneficial gut bacteria. For others, it may be smoking, stress, excessive drinking, poor eating habits, medications, or poor lifestyle choices.

What are the symptoms?

By far the most common symptom is itching. And not just any kind of itch. This is a skin crawling, itching sensation that can be felt on or within the skin. It’s a constant feeling of invisible bugs crawling on, biting, or stinging your skin, that’s usually worse at night. This is an almost indescribable feeling and unless you have felt it, you simply cannot imagine it.

Other common symptoms are:

  • Slow healing skin lesions
  • Blue, red, white, or black fibers emitting from the skin or just under the outer layer. The same fibers may be very hard to see and can sometimes be microscopic. Most can only be visible with a 50x – 100x magnification.
  • Black specs on the skin, bed, or clothing
  • Fatigue
  • And brain fog

Many people believe it feels like a parasitic infection.

Is it contagious?

Morgellons disease is not contagious. However, if you have someone else in your household that is also suffering from Morgellons disease it is likely that they have a similar gut-bacterial profile. Due to this similarity, they are unfortunately an ideal host for Morgellons disease. People with Morgellons disease may also notice others around them scratching themselves when they are in their presence. According to a leading doctor in the field, it is suspected that this is due to the debris or by products of the disease getting released into the air. The bottom line is, you do not need to worry about contaminating other people. Your only focus should be on healing your body from within.

Is there an effective treatment?

Absolutely! I created it and it is called the No More Morgellons Program. Sign up below for updates. And almost as importantly, it won’t cost you hundreds of dollars each month to implement it. It doesn’t involve special lights, magnets, or any other unusual voodoo like types of remedies. There are far too many people and companies making ridiculous claims about this disease. And, you won’t have to waste years of your life going from doctor to doctor hoping that they will believe you.

How do I know if I have Morgellons disease?

It’s usually self diagnosed.  If you’re fortunate enough to find a doctor to diagnose it they will most likely determine it is MD based on your symptoms and the existence of the fibers, even if you cannot see them. Most patients will be unaware of these fibers since they are microscopic.

This can be a long drawn out process. It is often used with the process of elimination to rule out what it is not. One thing that may be helpful is buying a microscope that clips on to your phone. From there you will be able to look for the existence of fibers and take photos. I recommend getting one that will magnify at least 60x.

Do I need to clean more or disinfect my home?

Initially people with Morgellons disease believe that it is an external problem and one that must be due to a dirty environment. Some of us will spend hours on cleaning rituals only to feel even more exhausted and frustrated once they don’t work.

But, you are literally wasting your time by doing this. All the cleaning in the world will not clean away Morgellons. This is an internal problem. The underlying cause is inside your body and you must treat it from within.

How long has Morgellons disease existed?

Morgellons disease has a history dating back to 1674. It was described in a letter written by an English physician named Sir Thomas Brown. Modern MD as we know it gained the attention of the medical community in 2002. At that time, a biologist named Mary Leitao discovered lesions on her son which contained red and blue fibers.

The bottom line is Morgellons disease sucks! It is a frustrating, and at times an embarrassing condition that will have you question your sanity. But – there is hope! Contact me below to find out more and stay up to date!
